Hi! I’m Paige Landsem, and I’m a senior at the University of Oregon studying public relations in the UO’s School of Journalism and Communication. Thanks for reading my blog!
I’m a rabid baseball and college football fan, and root for the Seattle Mariners and Oregon Ducks. While I’m obsessed with sports on the field, I’m also fascinated by the media world surrounding sports; in my eyes, many sportswriters and broadcasters have the same level of celebrity as the athletes they cover.
Part of this obsession with sports media blossomed during my summer 2011 internship at the communications department at Sports Illustrated in New York City. There, I worked with SI’s social media channels and did some media relations work. To say I had a great time and learned a ton is an understatement.
Currently, I’m involved in two great internships: I’m the Firm Director at Allen Hall Public Relations, the student-run PR firm at the University of Oregon, and a social media intern at Baseball Prospectus.
In addition to sports, I’m obsessed with 30 Rock, Twitter, Motown music and my hometown of Portland, Oregon. West coast forever (although I love NYC).

Awesome! I hear Oregon is a cool place.
I also have heard people from Oregon say “Oregon” differently than people who do not live in Oregon. Some of those who aren’t citizens supposedly say “Oregon” wrong… that would be me! Haha. Oh and I’m taking a composition of print media class if that’s any correlation to your studies.

Great blog. I like the title; the play on words with your name. I ran across your blog while trying to find out more info on the King Felix shirts. I work for a company in Milwaukie that does a lot of sports marketing-type stuff and until about a year ago I never really thought about how my love of sports and my love of graphic design/marketing and advertising could coexist. You’ve obviously got a bright future ahead of you in the PR world. Do what you love and love what you do!
